Interface to Relocate Global Headquarters to Midtown Atlanta

ATLANTA – Sept. 21, 2016 – Today, Interface Inc. (Nasdaq: TILE), the world’s largest manufacturer of modular carpet and leader in sustainable business, announced it will relocate its global corporate headquarters to Midtown Atlanta. The Company chose the site at 1280 West Peachtree Street to repurpose existing commercial space rather than build new, to serve as a catalyst for revitalization.
Interface is currently headquartered in the Vinings neighborhood of Metro Atlanta with two additional corporate and Americas regional team office spaces in Metro Atlanta. The new Midtown headquarters will bring together these separate teams into a single space to be occupied in mid-2018.
The Company is partnering with the global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will to create a facility that will contribute equally to Interface’s internal culture and to that of the city. Parkside Partners will bring that design vision to fruition as the developer/owner of the project, tapping into its experience revitalizing in-town Atlanta properties. Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) helped to identify and select the location best meeting all of Interface’s needs, and will assist Interface in managing the design and construction of the project.
Designed in close collaboration with local employees and staying true to its two-decades-long commitment to sustainable design, the new headquarters will be a modern, design-forward workplace where employees, customers and partners can learn, work, play and refresh.
The low-rise office building is across the street from green space that is on top of the MARTA Arts Center transit station, providing access to public transportation for current and future employees. The building will undergo a complete renovation with significant attention to the design of the building systems, focusing on its overall carbon footprint. Plans for the building exterior are currently under review with The Midtown Alliance to ensure the new design is in keeping with the neighborhood’s redevelopment vision, Blueprint Midtown.
“Moving our global headquarters to Midtown Atlanta allows us to present our design-focused brand, and to demonstrate our commitment to create innovative workplaces that best support our employees’ needs,” said Jay Gould, President and Chief Operating Officer of Interface. “This new space will help our team work together more collaboratively in a creative and nature-inspired space, as well as provide easier access to the heart of the city and bring the vibrancy of Interface to the city.”
The new 40,000-square-ft. headquarters will include environmentally-friendly features and biophilic design (interior design inspired by nature), promoting the well-being of employees and visitors. The facility will be a working showroom of Interface’s award-winning carpet in application, with highly flexible and variable workspaces.
“It’s exciting to work with a company that understands the positive impact of biophilic design, not only in its products, but also in its workspace,” said Joyce Fownes, Managing Principal and Interior Design Director with Perkins+Will. “We’re engaging directly with employees to hear what they need, want and envision in their new space. Collective input from the team is imperative for us to create an office design that inspires, energizes and supports Interface employees while best representing the unique team and Interface brand.”
