Envique's Unique "Fusion" Decor

Dallas, TX – Nov 2, 2015 – Quick-Step’s recently launched Envique Collection has taken design and innovation to new heights. One product in this new collection offers consumers unique “fusion design”. Envique’s Urban Concrete Oak is a fusion design inspired by several of today’s popular trends in architecture and interior design: industrial looks, concrete, rough-hewn wood, and grey tones.
“Our designers are always in tune with the world around us, because the next Quick-Step creation may be inspired by any variety of things, including nature, events, or even architecture,” said Oke Nollet, design director for Unilin (Quick-Step’s parent company).
“Fusion” Design
“A hot new trend making a big splash in the design industry is to feature ‘fusion’ elements in a room,” said Nollet. “These contemporary fusion or blended decors combine the best visuals of several things to create a stunning new design, rather than trying to identically copy an original material. As the style, design, and innovation leader in laminate flooring, Quick-Step is at the forefront of introducing fusion designs. Our contemporary Urban Concrete Oak, from the new Envique Collection, blurs the line between wood and concrete, creating a truly unique combination of both looks.”
Industrial Trend
“Who would have ever thought that old, dilapidated factories and warehouses would become highly coveted residential properties?” mused Nollet. “This is an exciting time for many downtown areas as both empty-nesters and young professionals are moving back to the heart of many cities, occupying the fabulous, old buildings that had previously been abandoned. These vacant premises are being converted into modern living spaces, while retaining their rough, unfinished edges. Exposed concrete, visible pipes, ducts, and rough brick walls are put in the spotlight instead of being covered up. Quick-Step’s Urban Concrete Oak captures the uniqueness of this unpolished, industrial trend in a beautiful way that brings contemporary artistry to a room.”
Concrete
“The past two years have seen an immense upgrade in the architectural / interior design application of concrete, from a building material to a highly desirable finish. Its robust appeal fits in perfectly with the industrial style,” said Nollet. “Quick-Step’s Urban Concrete Oak has the unique allure of old fashioned ‘board-formed concrete’. Board-formed concrete is the name for a process of pouring concrete that leaves a wood grain image on the finished face of the concrete. In a bygone construction era, the norm was to build a vertical wooden frame that served as the mold into which wet concrete was poured when building a wall. Because wood was not routinely sanded back then, the rough texture of the unfinished wood often left the recognizable wood grain texture on the cast concrete surface.”
“Quick-Step’s technical abilities allow for near perfection when recreating the unique imprint of wood grain on board- formed concrete,” added Nollet. “The rough-hewn wood design and texture soften and warm the concrete visual’s somewhat cooler appearance. The resulting Urban Concrete Oak floor is a character-rich, unique fusion design that offers consumers a beautiful foundation upon which to build their room’s decor.”
