Simpson Selling Remaining Lumber Assets to SPI

(April 29, 2015)  Sierra Pacific Industries, Redding, Ca., has agreed to purchase the last of Simpson Lumber Co.’s sawmill assets in Shelton, Wa.

The deal includes property, as well as the equipment from mills in downtown Shelton, at the Port of Shelton, and in Dayton, Wa.

SPI said it does not intend to operate the facilities, but instead will construct at least one new, state-of-the-art sawmill and lumber planing operation at the waterfront site. It expects the new plant will be up and running some time in 2017.

Simpson recently sold its four other sawmills to Interfor.
