Nebraska Chain Cuts Original Yard

A lumber business that started in 1876 will be closing the doors at its flagship Nebraska City, Ne., location by the end of the year. Century Lumber’s last day will be Dec. 31, 2014. The company will continue to operate at its six other Nebraska locations and one in Wyoming.

 "The overall business environment has changed over the years, which has impacted the small town local lumberyard.  The big box retailers in Omaha and Lincoln, being a short commute away from Nebraska City has impacted business for the smaller locations,” store manager Mark Eilers said.

 At this time, a good selection of inventory and lumber remains and those items will be sold at close-out pricing at 25% off and is being sold for cash only, until its closing on Dec. 31.
